I meet this with mixed feelings. I like that we can now go shopping without having to drive all the way to Baybrook or Almeda Mall, yet I do miss the small town feeling I used to have here. Once upon a time, I couldn’t go ANYWHERE without seeing someone I knew. Now, it is all a sea of unfamiliar faces. I remember when the only stores were the Kroger where Salvation Army is now and Kmart was where the Palais Royal is now. Pearland was a bunch of dirt roads with few traffic lights. I miss the Snow WIz too. As youngsters, we all would daydream of leaving this small town-some of us did, some of us didn’t. I saw what was out there for me and came back to raise a family.
*sigh*
Far be it from me to complain too long though. The Town Center is across the freeway (traffic allowing-about a 5 minute drive) and they have a Yankee Candle store. Anyone for a small Cinnabon and a coffee? We could sit in the Barnes and Noble cafe reading our new books. Just call me.
